Captain Mark D. Zlatek

Captain Mark D. Zlatek is the Flight Commander of the Intelligence Analysis Flight, 20th Intelligence Squadron, Offutt AFB, Nebraska. He leads a team of 33 military and civilian analysts, directing the production of effects-based targeting assessments vital to operations within the USINDOPACOM and USCENTCOM areas of responsibility. His duties include strategic planning, resource allocation, and personnel management to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality intelligence products supporting national security objectives. 

Captain Zlatek’s career began in September 2009 when he enlisted as a geospatial intelligence analyst. He commissioned in May 2019, graduating as a distinguished graduate from Officer Training School. His extensive intelligence experience spans both tactical and operational levels, including assignments with AETC and Space Operations Command Staff. He also deployed to Ankara, Turkey, in support of Operation NOMAD SHADOW. 

Previously, Captain Zlatek served as the Chief of the Tactical Analysis Section and later as Executive Officer to the SpOC S2 at the Space Operations Center, Peterson SFB, Colorado. While enlisted, he also served as an instructor for the ISR Operations Course at Goodfellow AFB, Texas, and held various analyst and collection management positions at Beale AFB, California, Ramstein AB, Germany, and deployed to the Combined Intelligence Fusion Cell – Ankara. 

Captain Zlatek holds a Master of Science in Global Securities Studies from Angelo State University, a Bachelor of Arts in Intelligence Studies from American Military University, and Associate of Applied Science degrees in Intelligence Studies and Instructor of Technology and Military Science from the Community College of the Air Force. He is a distinguished graduate of Officer Training School and a top graduate of the Air Force Intelligence Officer School. 

He also graduated as an honor graduate from Air Force Basic Military Training. Captain Zlatek is married to Heather, and they have two sons, Oliver and Cooper.
